TODAY'S GOD'S WORD REFLECTION: SEEK FIRST THE KINGDOM OF GOD
Saturday, June 20, 2026
📖 Today's Readings: 2 Chronicles 24:17–25 | Psalm 89:4–5, 29–34 | Matthew 6:24–34
In today’s Gospel, Jesus reminds us that no one can serve two masters. We cannot serve both God and wealth. Therefore, Jesus calls us not to be consumed by worries about food, drink, clothing, or the future. Instead, He gives us the key to a life filled with peace: “Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”
To seek the Kingdom of God means allowing God to reign in our hearts and lives. When God becomes the center of our lives, we learn to seek His will before our own, hold firmly to His Word, and do everything for His glory. This is a life centered on God rather than on anxiety, ambition, or self-interest.
The First Reading tells the story of King Joash, who was initially faithful to God but later turned away from Him after experiencing success and prosperity. He forgot the Lord and rejected the warning delivered through the prophet Zechariah. This story serves as a reminder that blessings and achievements can sometimes cause us to drift away from God if we do not continually nurture our relationship with Him.
Today, the Lord invites us to ask ourselves: Does God truly reign in my heart? Or are there other things that occupy my thoughts, time, and attention more than He does? When we place God first, we discover a peace that is not dependent on circumstances, because we trust that our Heavenly Father knows all our needs.
Prayer:
Lord, teach us to seek first Your Kingdom and Your righteousness. Reign in our hearts and lives. Guide our thoughts, decisions, and actions so that they may always align with Your will and bring glory to Your name. Amen.
May God bless us all ❤️
