REFLECTION ON GOD'S WORD TODAY: GOD OF THE LIVING

(Memorial of Saint Charles Lwanga and Companions, Martyrs)
📖 Today's Readings: 2 Timothy 1:1–3, 6–12 | Psalm 123:1–2 | Mark 12:18–27
In today’s Gospel, the Sadducees come to Jesus with a question about the resurrection. They did not believe that the dead would rise again. Jesus responds by declaring that God is the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; He is not the God of the dead, but of the living. Through this answer, Jesus invites us to look beyond earthly realities and view life from the perspective of eternity.
In the first reading, Saint Paul encourages Timothy: “Fan into flame the gift of God that is within you.” Paul reminds him that God has not given us a spirit of fear, but a spirit of power, love, and self-discipline. Therefore, we are called to remain faithful witnesses of Christ regardless of the challenges we face.
Today, the Lord calls us to live with hope. Difficulties, suffering, and even death are not the end. In Christ, eternal life is promised to those who trust in Him and remain faithful to their calling. Like Saint Charles Lwanga and the Martyrs of Uganda, may we stand firm in faith, confident that we belong to the living God who is always with us.
Prayer:
Lord, rekindle within us the fire of faith and hope. Strengthen us to live as Your faithful witnesses and to trust that You are the God of the living, always present and at work in our lives. Amen.
May God bless us all ❤️
