TODAY'S GOD'S WORD REFLECTION: LOVING BEYOND LIMITS
Tuesday, June 16, 2026
📖 Today's Readings: 1 Kings 21:17–29 | Psalm 51:3–4, 5–6a, 11, 16 | Matthew 5:43–48
In today’s Gospel, Jesus gives one of His most challenging teachings: “Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.” Loving those who are kind to us is not difficult. However, loving those who hurt us, disappoint us, or treat us unfairly is much harder. Yet this is precisely where the power of Christian love is revealed. Jesus calls us not to repay evil with evil, but to show a love that goes beyond human limits, just as our Heavenly Father loves all people without distinction.
The First Reading tells the story of King Ahab, who was confronted by the prophet Elijah because of his sins. After hearing God’s message, Ahab humbled himself and repented. Seeing his repentance, God showed him mercy. Today’s Psalm echoes the prayer of a repentant heart: “Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your steadfast love.” God’s Word reminds us that none of us is perfect. We all stand in need of God’s mercy and forgiveness every day.
Today, the Lord invites us to have hearts that reflect His own—hearts that are quick to forgive, willing to pray for others, and free from bitterness. When we learn to love even those who are difficult to love, we become more like Christ. Such love has the power to heal wounds, restore relationships, and become a living witness to the world.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, teach us to love as You love. Give us hearts that are willing to forgive, pray for, and love even those who have hurt us. May our lives reflect Your boundless love and mercy. Amen.
May God bless us all ❤️
