Today’s Reflection on God’s Word: Strength in the Lord and His Peace
Monday, June 2, 2025
First Reading: Acts 19:1–8
Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 68:2-3, 4-5ac, 6-7ab
Gospel Reading: John 16:29–33
Today’s readings invite us to reflect on the power of the Holy Spirit and the true peace that Christ offers. In Acts of the Apostles, Paul meets some disciples in Ephesus who had not yet received the Holy Spirit. After baptizing them in the name of the Lord Jesus and laying hands on them, the Holy Spirit comes upon them—they begin speaking in tongues and prophesying. This highlights how vital the Holy Spirit is in empowering and strengthening our faith journey.
Psalm 68 praises God as the defender of the fatherless and the protector of widows—He gives the lonely a home and sets the prisoners free. This reminds us that God is our refuge and deliverer, always caring for those who depend on Him.
In the Gospel of John, Jesus comforts His disciples before His Passion: “In the world you will have tribulation. But take courage; I have overcome the world.” What a powerful assurance! Though trials and persecutions may come, true peace is found only in Christ—because He has conquered every darkness.
Short Prayer
Heavenly Father, fill our hearts with Your Holy Spirit, so we may be strengthened in faith and face every challenge with courage. Grant us Your peace that surpasses all understanding, for we believe You have overcome the world. Amen.
May God bless us all ❤️, Manuntun Sitinjak
