Reflection on God’s Word Today: A Love That Seeks and Saves
Readings:
Ezekiel 34:11–16
Romans 5:5b–11
Luke 15:3–7
Reflection:
Today the Church celebrates the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus—a powerful symbol of God’s deep, tender, and unconditional love. In the Gospel, Jesus presents Himself as the Good Shepherd who leaves the ninety-nine sheep to seek the one that is lost. This is love in its purest form: relentless, compassionate, and joyful when even one soul returns.
The prophet Ezekiel foretells a God who comes personally to care for His people—healing the wounded, strengthening the weak, and bringing back those who have strayed. Saint Paul echoes this in his letter to the Romans: God poured out His love for us not when we were righteous, but while we were still sinners.
The Sacred Heart of Jesus is a heart that sacrifices, a heart that rejoices over repentance, a heart that never gives up on us. Today, we are invited to rest in that love and let it transform our own hearts—to love more, forgive more, and bring peace to those around us.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You for never giving up on me. Shape my heart to be like Yours—gentle, patient, and full of love. Help me to return to You always and to love others as You have loved me. Amen.
God bless us all ❤️, Manuntun Sitinjak
