True Greatness Lies in Humility and Service

Daily Reflection on God's Word: True Greatness Lies in Humility and Service

Readings: Mark 9:30-37 | Sirach 2:1-11 | Psalm 37:3-4, 18-19, 27-28, 39-40

In today’s Gospel, Jesus teaches His disciples that true greatness is not about status or power but about humility and service. When the disciples argued about who among them was the greatest, Jesus responded, "If anyone wants to be first, he must be last of all and servant of all." (Mark 9:35).

However, serving with humility is not easy. Sirach 2:1-11 reminds us that whoever desires to serve the Lord must be prepared for trials. Challenges and hardships are part of the journey of faith, but God never abandons those who trust in Him. "Trust in Him, and He will help you." (Sirach 2:6).

Psalm 37 strengthens us with God’s promise that He will never forsake the faithful. "Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness." (Psalm 37:3). The Lord is our refuge in times of trouble and always saves those who rely on Him.

From these three readings, we are called not to seek worldly greatness but to be humble and serve wholeheartedly. Even though this path is challenging, God promises His blessing and protection to those who remain faithful.

Prayer

Loving God, teach us to follow Your example of humility and service. Help us not to seek worldly greatness but to serve sincerely with love and dedication. Strengthen us to remain faithful in trials and to trust fully in You. You are our refuge, and in You, we place our trust. Amen.

May God’s Word today strengthen our faith and encourage us to become humble servants in our daily lives. God bless! ✨🙏
