Reflection on God's Word Today: The Holy Spirit, Our True Helper
Readings: Acts 16:22–34, Psalm 138:1–3.7c–8, John 16:5–11
Jesus tells His disciples that His departure is for their own good because only then will the Holy Spirit—the Advocate—come. The Spirit will convict the world concerning sin, righteousness, and judgment. In the Acts reading, Paul and Silas were imprisoned for preaching the Gospel, yet they continued to pray and sing hymns. Their faith shook the prison and opened the heart of the jailer, leading to the baptism of his entire household.
The Holy Spirit is our Helper who strengthens us in suffering, guides us in confusion, and convicts us from within. When we face trials, let us remember that the Spirit is with us—comforting and leading us to truth. Like Paul and Silas, let us worship God in every situation and be living witnesses of faith.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You for the gift of the Holy Spirit. Help us to stay faithful and attentive to His voice. Amen.
