PSALM 6 PRAYER – WHEN YOU ARE HURT, DO NOT RETALIATE – PRAY
In life, we often get hurt by others’ actions. As believers, we are called not to retaliate with anger, but to respond with love — through prayer.
This prayer uses Psalm 6 as a way to release pain and entrust justice to God. Say it sincerely, and mention the name of the person who has hurt you.
1. Opening Prayer:
Lord Jesus,
I have had a relationship with (insert the name of the person you are praying for),
but he/she has hurt me and done things
that caused me pain, wounded my heart, and disturbed my peace...
2. Read Psalm 6:2–6
In verses 2, 3, and 5, replace the words “I” or “me” with the name of the person you are praying for.
Example:
• “Have mercy on (name), O Lord, for (name) is weak.”
• “(Name)’s bones are in agony.”
• “(Name)’s soul is in deep anguish.”
3. Then read Psalm 6:7–10
(These verses should be read without modification, just as they appear in the Bible.)
4. Closing Prayer:
Lord Jesus,
If (insert name) did all that by Your command,
then bless him/her.
But if it was not from You,
I surrender the right to revenge entirely to You.
Amen.
5. Concluding Prayers:
Our Father – 1x
Hail Mary – 1x
Glory Be – 1x
This prayer is an act of love, not weakness — it brings peace, healing, and strength.
May God bless and comfort your heart.
