LIFE IS MORE VALUABLE THAN WEALTH

TODAY’S REFLECTION ON THE WORD OF GOD: LIFE IS MORE VALUABLE THAN WEALTH

Monday, October 19, 2026

Readings: Ephesians 2:1–10 • Psalm 100:2, 3, 4, 5 • Luke 12:13–21

Today’s Word of God reminds us that life is not determined by how much wealth we possess.

In the Gospel, Jesus tells the story of a rich man who is busy building bigger barns and storing his harvest. He feels that his future is secure because he has accumulated many possessions. Yet he forgets that his very life is in God’s hands.

Jesus does not forbid us from working hard, building a business, planning for the future, or enjoying blessings. What He warns us against is allowing wealth to become the center of our lives.

Life is far more valuable than wealth.

What is the use of having much if we lose love, faith, compassion, and our relationship with God?

The first reading also reminds us that salvation is God’s gift. We are saved by grace, and our lives are called to produce good works.

Therefore, every blessing we receive should not stop with us. A blessing should become a blessing for others.

Today, let us ask ourselves: What am I gathering in life—only wealth for myself, or also love and goodness that have value before God?

Prayer: Lord Jesus, teach me to use every blessing wisely. Keep my heart from greed and attachment to wealth. Make my life rich in faith, love, and goodness, so that I may become a blessing to others. Amen.
